I am a minimalist when it comes to Decorative Pillows on the bed. I like to choose a bold pattern and display it in 1, 2 or 3 decorative pillows max.

1 Decorative Lumbar Pillow (example 12"x24" or 14"x30") 

3 Euro Pillows

 2 Decorative Pillows (example 18"x18" or 20"x20") 

3 Euro Pillows

2 King Bed Pillows

3 Decorative Pillows. (example, 2 - 20"x20" and 1 - 12"x20" or 14"x22")

As you can see from the images it is not necessary to have many decorative pillows in order to get a pop of color and personality. Just make sure to choose a pattern that stands out from your bedding tones.
